Chief Technology Officer, Modesto City Schools

Russ Selken is Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Modesto City Schools. In this role, he has provided progressive, innovative, collaborative leadership in developing, executing, supporting, and evaluating the District’s robust information technology (IT) systems. Russ’s focus on innovation, efficiency, and implementation of effective 21st-century telecommunication and technology practices has aided the District in providing the highest quality educational programs and services. Russ also serves as a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet.

Prior to his role leading Modesto City Schools’ Information and Educational Technology Department, Russ had 25 years of experience in education in such roles as CTO at Twin Rivers Unified School District, Butte County Office of Education, K12 HSN, and E-rate/CTF Leadership roles at the state level.

Russ is a proven leader with more than 25 years of experience in education, leveraging diverse technology platforms and strategies that lead to learning gains during the COVID 19 pandemic.
