Director, San Diego County Library
Acosta brings San Diego County a background in library innovation, leadership, and stewardship. Acosta has been serving as Director of the Library since September 2016. Prior to coming to San Diego, Acosta served as Assistant Director and Chief Information Officer for the County of Los Angeles Public Library. He has also worked for Santa Monica Library and the RAND Corporation. “My career is built around the idea that libraries play a vital role in transforming the lives of individuals in the communities we serve. Libraries supplement and support traditional educational institutions and are open and free for anyone. If you want to start a new career, start a business, travel, learn a language, develop a hobby, the library is a place for you.” Acosta earned his Masters of Library and Information Science from UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from UCLA College of Letters and Science.
