Executive Director, Schools, Health, & Libraries Broadband (SHLB) Coalition
John Windhausen, Jr. is the founder and Executive Director of the Schools, Health, & Libraries Broadband (SHLB) Coalition, a non-profit, 501(c)(3) advocacy organization that is based in Washington, DC, and has 178 members from across the US. SHLB promotes open, affordable, high-quality broadband services for anchor institutions and their communities and focuses on the E-rate and Rural Health Care programs and federal broadband legislation. Windhausen previously operated his own broadband policy consulting firm and was president of a telecommunications trade association. From 1987 to 1996, he served as staff counsel for the U. S. Senate Commerce Committee, where he was one of the key drafters of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. He began his career as a staff attorney at the Federal Communications Commission in 1984. He has a BA from Yale University and a JD from the UCLA School of Law.
