Eric Murphy
Tenured Astronomer, National Radio Astronomy Observatory

Murphy is a Full Astronomer with Tenure at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO), where he is currently the Project Scientist for the next-generation Very Large Array project. He received his PhD from Yale University working on space-based, far-infrared, and ground-based radio data. Upon receiving his degree, he took postdoctoral scholar positions at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and Carnegie Observatories, before joining the research staff at Caltech and then later moving to NRAO headquarters in Charlottesville, Virginia. His primary research interests lie in the study of star formation and its associated feedback processes on the interstellar medium of galaxies, particularly the role played by cosmic rays. This work makes use of a wide range of observational facilities spanning gamma-rays into the radio.
