Davena Witcher, BSN, launched her career in the medical field in 1998. She found her specialty of choice, neonatal care, in her first year of schooling. First working as a Respiratory Therapist and later achieving her Bachelors of Nursing, Davena was part of the Transport team at Valley Children’s Hospital for 10 years where she helped resuscitate and stabilize California’s most at-risk citizens. She began service on AMOR’s Board of Directors in 2008, playing a key role in the development of maternal and child services that are the focus of AMOR’s cornerstone project. In 2011, she accepted a full-time position as AMOR’s Development Director tasked with seeking funding for AMOR’s future growth. In 2013, she was appointed as Executive Director. Since that time she has successfully led the organization to treat over 94,000 patients annually through AMOR’s hospital and 10 clinics in Afghanistan, and successfully opened a neonatal nursery that serves as the model of excellence in the country. In 2016 Davena successfully launched an $8 million Capital Campaign to construct and operate a multi-structure, eco-friendly facility in Mendota, located in the heart of California’s Central Valley. Her peers recognized her as the Outstanding Fundraising Professional AFP Central Valley Chapter in 2018 for her efforts on this local project. Groundbreaking is set for May 2019. Davena enjoys riding her Harley in the Pacific Northwest, thoughtful books that educated & inspire her, hiking in the Sierra’s and spending time with friends.
