Ron Hutchins spent 34 years at Georgia Tech in a variety of positions, beginning in a research capacity and later directing and expanding the campus network. During Ron's time at Georgia Tech, he helped to found the Southern Crossroads Network, serving universities across the south, and the Quilt, a consortium of regional optical networks in the US. After spending the last 10 years serving the university as CTO, Ron retired and moved to the University of Virginia as VP-IT. Ron currently serves as the CIO at Golden State Networks in California, a not-for-profit company helping to build out the state's fiber-optic middle-mile network.
