Robert Kwon is the Chief Technology Officer at CENIC. He is responsible for Network Services and Network Architecture, supporting CalREN; Systems Engineering, supporting CENIC’s internal infrastructure and end users; and Software Engineering, which develops custom tools and enhances commercial platforms. He led the development of CENIC’s Next Generation Infrastructure (NGI), transitioning the network to an MPLS-based architecture, deploying 800G connectivity, and developing Science DMZ as a Service, simplifying adoption for members and enabling easier participation in CENIC AIR and other research-based networking requirements.

Robert has over 25 years of experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical networks, including roles with the U.S. Air Force, Disney, commercial ISPs, and Kaiser Permanente.
