Computational Data Scientist

Mary is a computational data scientist and the HPC/CI Advanced Computing Training Lead at the San Diego Supercomputer Center, overseeing educational and training materials and training for scientists using HPC systems like the SDSC Expanse and Voyager. Her research focuses on computational science, parallel programming, advanced computational environments, and workforce development. Thomas serves as the PI or Co-PI on three NSF CyberTraining grants. These grants aim to develop cyberinfrastructure (CI) professionals who facilitate researchers in accessing and utilizing NSF CI resources and services (#2230127, PI), educate researchers on best practices for scalable AI/ML applications (#2017767, PI), and create taxonomies for a federated training materials repository (#2320977, Co-PI). Mary is also actively involved with graduate and undergraduate students, supporting and mentoring the IEEE Supercomputing Club.
