Kevin Nelson

Senior Network Systems Engineer

Kevin Nelson is the Senior Network Systems Engineer for the San Joaquin Valley Library System. He has been working for the library system for 20 years, using skills developed in Silicon Valley datacenters and start-ups to modernize our member libraries. Working with partners such as CENIC, SPURR, and EdTechnologyFunds, he oversaw the transition to fiber-based broadband services and Category 2 network infrastructure upgrades across 110 library branches in some of the Central Valley's most rural areas, using E-Rate funding. Kevin also used these skills to rebuild our data center and virtualize our server infrastructure for resilience and flexibility. When he has a free moment, Kevin also serves on multiple coalitions to advance digital equity and inclusion for disenfranchised populations across the Central Valley, as well as the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and CENIC C2TAG.
