DEB DONIG is a Lecturer UC Berkeley's School of Information and the 2024-2026 Siegel Endowed Fellow at All Tech is Human. She is the co-founder of the Cal Poly Ethical Technology Initiative and the host of "Technically Human," a podcast where she talks with major thinkers, writers, and industry-leading technologists about the relationship between humans and the technologies we create. Her work includes advising start ups, policymakers, and civic organizations on trust and safety, and ethical and responsible approaches to technological implementation and design.
From 2023-2024 Belfer Fellow at the Center for Technology and Society at the Anti-Defamation League. She is the lead Principal Investigator on the "Assessing the Future of the Ethical Technology Workforce," funded by the National Science Foundation. She has published on issues related to democracy, human rights, ethical uses of AI, regulating emerging technologies, AI and sustainability, and the future of work. Her current book project "The Technological Grotesque," examines the emergence of what she argues is a new profession, a growing and codifying workforce at the frontiers of ethical, public interest, and responsible technology.
